You're all set. ZetaMarker highlights web pages and PDFs in your browser. Highlights save locally right away — no account required. Sign in later when you want cloud sync and the web dashboard.
Private by design: ZetaMarker doesn't track your browsing. It runs only on pages where you turn it on, reads them only to create your highlights, and never uses what you read for analytics or ads. Privacy policy
1. Pin the extension
Click the puzzle icon (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) or the extensions control (Firefox) in your toolbar, find ZetaMarker, and pin it so the icon stays visible.
Keyboard shortcuts:
- Chrome / Chromium:
chrome://extensions/shortcuts - Firefox:
about:addons→ the gear menu → Manage Extension Shortcuts
(Activate, toggle sidebar, cycle theme, Quick Highlighter.)
2. Start the in-page guide
- Open any page you want to read.
- Click the ZetaMarker icon (or press Ctrl+Shift+K / Cmd+Shift+K) to turn it on for that tab.
- A short guide will show highlighting, the control bar, Quick Highlighter, sidebar, Local Pages, and sync — you can skip it anytime.
Other tabs stay untouched until you activate ZetaMarker there too.
Optional next steps
- PDFs: Open a PDF in your browser and activate ZetaMarker to highlight in the extension PDF viewer. Local
file://PDFs need a dashboard upload first. For legacy PDF highlights, see Migrate PDF highlights. - Cloud sync: Create an account for a 7-day Pro trial (no credit card), then sign in from the extension. One account per browser profile — learn more.
